Manufacturing

LE's specialty is the manufacture of permanent magnet electric motors, electric generators/alternators, and auxiliary power units (APUs). From prototyping to mass production, LE supports the broad supply requirements of its customers with production flexibility on-location and by our fulfillment center. Our manufacturing process utilizes permanent magnet technology (amorphous metals), to bring power-dense, high frequency, ultra-low core loss electric motors and generators to the industrial, commercial and electric vehicle (EV)/hybrid vehicle markets.

LE's state-of-the-art production facility at its headquarters in Indianapolis, IN boasts the latest manufacturing and test equipment in a 20,000 square foot product development and technology center. Working hand-in-hand with LE's advanced machine design team, LE's skilled manufacturing team provides customers with custom tooling, prototyping and dynamometer testing for LE designed motors and generators.

For full production requirements, LE has established a long term strategic manufacturing partnership with Xiangtan Electric Manufacturing Corporation Ltd, XEMC, creating Xiangtan Electric—Light Engineering (XELE). XEMC, founded in 1936, is China's oldest and most respected manufacturer of motors and generator products. With development over almost eighty decades, it has been the domestic manufacturing and R&D base for the significant motor/generator technology breakthroughs of China.

XELE, located in an 80,000 square foot manufacturing facility in XEMC's high tech Xiangtan campus, provides LE manufacturing flexibility and cost effectiveness for its customers. It serves as the worldwide fulfillment center for LE motor and generator solutions, and its staff has received detailed training on the manufacture and assembly of LE's advanced electric motors and generators. By leveraging the scale and availability of XEMC's facility and staff, LE can quickly meet the needs of any customer's supply requirements, all at a cost competitive to traditional electric rotating machines.

Every motor and generator we produce is electrically tested prior to shipment. High potential voltage, surge, resistance, inductance, and other electrical tests are performed as necessary to assure conformance to customer specifications. Test results are electronically recorded and stored for future analysis. If requested, test results may accompany product shipments.

Whether you need low to medium quantities or higher volumes, LE can accommodate your needs. If you do not see a configuration that meets your needs, please contact us with your specific requirements.

Custom wound products can be produced as needed for prototypes, pre-production evaluation, and production runs depending upon quantities needed.
