Clean Technology

Energy efficiency (the “negawatt”) is commonly known as the greatest and most immediate opportunity to address the world’s energy supply and environmental issues.

Over 99% of all electricity generated worldwide, approximately 15,746 billion kilowatt hours, is created through the usage of electric generators.  Meanwhile, over 70% of the world's generated 15,746 billion kilowatt hours are used to run electric motors—by far the largest single category of electricity end use in the American economy.

Electric motors are the backbone to everyday life, responsible for the movement of air, water and people. However, most motors and generators in service today were installed many years before the present energy crisis, and are consistently less efficient than our currently available technology.

According to a 2002 U.S. Department of Energy report, replacement of general-purpose AC induction motors currently in use with motors that meet federal efficiency standards will yield energy savings of 13.0 billion kWh per year, and replacement with the most efficient motors currently available will yield an additional 6.8 billion kWh in annual savings.

LE's motor and generator technology, protected by 20 U.S. patents, is currently the most efficient motor and generator design commercially available and has wide applicability and scalability.
